RedCan Graffiti Jam!

North Dakota Quarterly is pleased to pass along some great regional arts news!  The RedCan Graffiti Jam project of the Cheyenne River Youth Project (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe) is a finalist for this year’s Robert E. Gard Award, a national arts award given out annually by Americans For the Arts. Here’s the announcement from the Cheyenne River Youth Project.

RedCan Graffiti Jam is “Indian Country’s only invitational graffiti jam,” and is scheduled again this summer in Eagle Butte, South Dakota.  Each year the visiting artists and participating kids work together to create beautiful pieces of powerful community art.

You can see the energy of the project in their 2016 documentary.

For more information on RedCan, photo galleries from previous years, the teaser video for the 2017 project, links for donations and email updates, see the Cheyenne River Youth Project’s RedCan page.
