More on the Tom McGrath Centennial

If you’re in the Twin Cities today and a Thomas McGrath fan, you might want to stop by the University Club on 420 Summit Ave. in St. Paul at 7 pm for a reading from his epic poem “Letters to an Imaginary Friend” and discussion of his life and legacy.

Here’s the information for tonights event and a nice interview with McGrath from 1986.

“I never grew up thinking the banker had my welfare at heart and (all) those other notions that make sleepwalkers of people.”

North Dakota Quarterly will host a reading of his poetry on Sunday November 20th at the Rhombus Guys Brewery in Grand Forks, ND at 7 pm.

And do check out the Mike Hazard documentary on Tom McGrath’s work The Movie at the End of the World and this online anthology of McGrath poems from NDQ.
