The Bellman

Since many of you are probably waiting for the next issue of NDQ to appear (and we have heard that it is now in typesetting), we thought it might be fun to share some of NDQ’s contemporary publications from the early 20th century.

The University of Pennsylvania has offered links to The Bellman, a magazine published in Minneapolis from 1906-1919 and edited by William Crowell Edgar. Like NDQ, it offered a blend of literature, poetry, and essays which it then anthologized in The Bellman Book of Verse and The Bellman Book of Fiction.

I’m finding these turn of the century literary magazines well worth some idyll scrolling and reading time as autumn turns to the cold and isolation of the North Dakota winter.
